DB calls SBB for measurement service on high speed line
The SBB multi-diagnostic vehicle, developed by MERMEC Group, used to inspect the German Nürnberg and Ingolstadt high speed line operated by DB.
The Nuremberg-Ingolstadt high-speed line, with a design speed of 300 km/h was constructed between 1998 and 2006 as a twin-track line for mixed traffic (ICE passenger and freight trains) with a slab track system. This important route, 90.1 km long with nine tunnels (total length: 27 km) has been checked by SBB ROGER 1000. The vehicle has inspected the Track Conditions and, in particular, the Rail Corrugation. A software module, specifically developed by MERMEC Group according to the German tracks characteristics, have automatically analyzed the recorded data in order to give to the German operator, the complete state of health of its line. The ROGER 1000 SBB testing train attracted DB's attention thanks to its high performances. Developed in accordance to SBB specific requirements, the Swiss Self-Propelled Vehicle is the only one of its kind in Europe. It can travel along routes at speeds of up to 160 km/h, performing fast, accurate and cost effective readings and measurements of the ballast bed, track structure and overhead contact line.
