Condition-Based Maintenance eliminates "too early" preventive ant "too late" corrective interventions and is based on planned works produced with all the diagnostic data available. In this way diagnostic data are used not only as a function of control but also as a driver for maintenance activities.

RAMSYS has been designed by raiway engineers specifically for the railway industry. It supports the management of all data related to railway infrastructure and rolling stock maintenance (assets, defects, work history, measurements, operational data, etc), anabling condition-based amd predictive maintenance and renewal. Condition-based maintenance processes supported by RAMSYS consist of four main phases: 

• Data Collection
  Preparation and collection of data coming from measuring campaigns, maintenance and renewal works, construction activities
• Data Analysis
  Processing of condition data (alone or in correlation with other data), producing new information such as defects, quality index, key performance indicators, and rate of deterioration.
• M&R Planning
  Preparation of maintenance plans to be scheduled requiring additional data to assess where, when and what maintenance is really required.
• Maintenance Control
  Checking the outcomes of the executed activities, estimation of future maintenance needs and assessment of alternative maintenance scenarios.
