OVERVIEW
1. What is My MERMEC?

A: My MERMEC, http://www.mermec.it, is a personalized web environment that dynamically delivers information on Products, Services & Solutions, news, events, corporate information, programs and promotions, and provides access to online tools and links (messages, shared files). Information is customized to a user's region, language, industry and interests - creating a powerful window into MER MEC.

2. How do I register for My MERMEC?

A: To register for My MERMEC, simply click on the "Sign In to My MERMEC" link on the homepage of MER MEC web site, http://www.mermec.it. This will take you to the registration page of My MERMEC. To register, complete the online form and submit it clicking on the "Send" button. Account activation usually requires at worst 48 hours.

3. How do I make My MERMEC my home page?

A: For Internet Explorer:

  • Go to the My MERMEC home page
  • Pull down the Tools menu and select Internet Options
  • Select the General tab (it should be open by default)
  • Click Use Current in the Home Page section
  • Click OK
  • Or click here

For Netscape:

  • Go to the My MERMEC home page
  • Pull down the Edit menu and select Preferences
  • Click Use Current Page in the Home Page section
  • Click OK
4. Who can register for My MERMEC?

A: My MERMEC is available for any site visitor.


LOGIN & PASSWORD
5. How long does it take to receive my Password and Username?

A: You select your password and username as part of the registration process. You will need to confirm your password and username before your login becomes active - this is done via email. Account activation is processed by My MERMEC back office team as soon as contact details are acquired. This process usually require at worst 48 hours.

6. What do I do if I've forgotten my password?

A: Our registration system has a 'Forgotten Password' facility that allows you to retrieve your password. Once selected, an email will be sent to the email address that you provided during your original registration process.

7. Will I be able to login to My MERMEC from a different computer or a different location?

A: Yes. As long as you have your username and password, you can login from any computer in any location that has Internet access.

8. Can I change my account login name?

A: Yes. If you wish to change either your account login (username) or any other information provided during registration, you can login to My MERMEC, access you personal profile and change/edit your data.

9. What browser should I be using??

A: My MERMEC is designed to support all browsers from Netscape Navigator v4 or Microsoft Internet Explorer v4 and above. If you have an older browser, you can upgrade it free of charge from Netscape or Microsoft.

10. Do I need any other plug-ins or software to use My MERMEC?

A: Yes, we suggest to install Macromedia Flash Player for experiencing multimedia content on our web site. This player can be downloaded from Macromedia web site. Moreover, some of the content posted on our web pages is held as PDF documents, so we suggest you ensure that Adobe Acrobat Reader is loaded on your PC. If you do not have Acrobat Reader or would like to upgrade to the latest version, go to the Adobe web site.

11. I have a username and password, but I am still having trouble accessing the site. Who do I contact?

A: If you are registered for My MERMEC and you have a username and password and are still having trouble accessing the site you should contact the help desk at mymermec@mermec.it.


CUSTOMIZING My MERMEC

To customize your My MERMEC page, you must be registered and logged in to the site.

12. How do I add or remove content from My MERMEC?

A: You may choose to remove content into the "Messages" section if you wish. Simply click on the check boxes on the left side of each items and than click on "Delete" button. On the contrary, all the items showed into the "Shared Files" section cannot be deleted by the user. Only files' owners can remove/change access permission and, therefore, content visualization.

13. What is the difference between "Personal Info", "Messages" and "Shared Files"?

A: Your profile is where your personal information is stored - information such as name, telephone number, job title, etc.. You can change this type of information by selecting the 'Personal Info' link from the navigation bar. By using "Messages" you'll be able to browse communications specifically addressed to you. "Shared Files" will contain all the items shared just with you by MER MEC representatives.

14. Can I change my language preference in My MERMEC?

A: Yes, you can select "Language" from the upper right navigation bar to select your language choice for content rendered on your My MERMEC.

15. If I change my language preference, does My MERMEC translate the content of my page into that language?

A: If you change your language preference, your navigation icons, links and graphics are translated and rendered in that language. If content is available in your new specified language, then it will be displayed. Where no local language content is available, then the default language is set to English.

16. What kind of content is on My MERMEC?

A: My MERMEC provides you with a personalized view of MERMEC public and reserved information. This includes Newsletter (Products, Services and Solutions, News, Corporate Information, Events, Promotions, Training and Customer Support information) but also Messages & Shared File (tailor-made information, documents, white paper, etc).
